Wednesday Meeting for Junior Class Moms + Thursday’s Science Class with Tyson Belcher

Distance Learning Corner > Announcements > Wednesday Meeting for Junior Class Moms + Thursday’s Science Class with Tyson Belcher

Hello everyone. We hope you and your children are enjoying these first few weeks of the online classes with Dr. Kimber and myself (alias Grandma and Grandpa Kimber). 🙂 It has been so fun to get to know all of your children and all of you!

Because this is the first time we have had online Junior classes formatted like the Senior classes, we thought it would be good to have a zoom meeting with all the Junior Class Moms. We would like to get your feedback, as well as offer some suggestions.

We have set up a zoom meeting for Wednesday, September 26, 2:00 pm. Log in to the Junior Class as you normally do to access the meeting.

SCIENCE: Also, as you know, the last Thursday of each month features our grandson Tyson Belcher, age 11, who is a fantastic young man who loves experimenting with “scientific stuff.” Next Thursday he is going to show the junior class how to make Ooblek. If you don’t know what that is, you’ll soon find out! Here is what you will need:

1 cup of water
2 cups cornstarch
Food coloring
Medium size bowl
Fork

This project, says Tyson’s mom, could get a little messy, so make sure there are no school papers or valuables nearby! You might want to spread some newspapers around for protection.

For those of you who have more than one student online, you could have all of them participate in making one batch of Ooblek, or let each make their own, with different colors, etc. It is up to you.

I look forward to meeting with all of you! I hope you can join us on Wednesday at 2:00. We want to make this Junior Class as effective as possible and will be happy to discuss what will work best for you.

Thanks for being part of our KADL program!

P.S. If you have a student who would like to demonstrate a scientific experiment next month, let me know. We can have experiments on other weeks in addition to Tyson’s. It doesn’t necessarily need to be on the subject of physiology. After all, Ooblek is more about “intelligence in matter”!
